Bought or adopted a furry friend in Singapore, but struggling to find new and fun places to take them? We hear you. Many of us aren’t lucky enough to have a house with a big ol’ back garden, so taking puppy for a walk around the neighbourhood is often the only way to give them their daily exercise. You’ll be glad to know that there are more dog-friendly outdoor spaces here than you might have realised. Dog parks, runs and other green spaces are scattered across the island, so head out and explore some of these with your hound!
Dog Runs
Bishan Park Dog Run
Managed by NParks, this large, fenced dog run is located right within picturesque Bishan Park, and it gets very busy on the weekends. There’s a fenced area especially designated for bigger dogs, too. It’s located beside Car Park A with various food spots close by if you’re craving a nice meal after your run.

Katong Park Dog Run
This dog run is small, fenced and has some agility facilities. Gather up a few of your friends with dogs to get together and have your own little party!

West Coast Dog Run
Located in West Coast Park, this dog run is open to the public at all times with no defined operating hours, although note that lighting hours are only until 7pm. Car Park 1 is the closest to the dog run, and certain large breeds should remain muzzled at all times and kept on leash.

Jurong Lake Gardens
This area has had a makeover in recent years and the dog run is one of the largest on the island, consisting of 2,200 square metres. There are grassy hills for hounds to explore, plus areas for washing dogs and more. It’s open from 8am to 10pm daily.

Potong Pasir Ave 1 Dog Run
For those not familiar with the area, the dog run is conveniently located a few steps from the Potong Pasir MRT station. Comparable to Bishan Park’s run, this is a sizeable run that’s perfect if you want a change in scenery. The park is situated right next to HDB Block 102; if you’re driving, we recommend parking there.

K9 Park at NEX
Located next to Pet Safari, this dog run is an old favourite, featuring poles and hurdles for your pooch. There are also separate enclosures for small and large dogs, keeping things nice and safe for everyone. Note: You have to take the Pets Lift or the outdoor escalator to go directly to the Sky Garden.

Yishun Park Dog Run
This recently opened dog run is on the smaller side, consisting of two fenced enclosures at the junction between Yishun Central and Yishun Avenue 11.

Tampines Central Park Dog Run
If you’re looking to mingle with other dog-lovers, this is the place. Despite its humble size, this dog run gets a fair share of visitors – mostly regulars and residents, especially on weekday evenings and weekends. Keep in mind that certain large breeds have to be leashed and muzzled at all times.

Sunny Heights
If you want to go all-out for your wee pal, Sunny Heights is doggie paradise. There’s a free swimming pool for pups from 1pm to 6.30pm. Paid training sessions, grooming, day care and more are available with an exclusive dog run for dogs that are enrolled in day care. There’s also a diner for humans and animals alike, perfect for enjoying a tea while your mutt passes out after all the excitement.

Dog-Friendly Parks (without dog runs)
You can’t legally let your dog off the lead (although many do with well-behaved pups), but these parks have plenty of green space for roaming around with your pal.
East Coast Park
With tons of scenic coastline, fresh air and plenty of room to run around, East Coast Park is a great afternoon out for your pooch. Weekends get pretty packed with cyclists, runners and picnics, so a weekday or early visit is perfect space-wise.

Labrador Nature Reserve
Located on the West Coast, relaxed Labrador Nature Reserve has plenty of sea views, green spaces and tall grass to give your dog a lengthy pad around. We like that this spot isn’t too packed, even on weekends.

Botanic Gardens
This central park has plenty of green and hilly spots to explore. The Gardens is the only tropical botanic garden on the UNESCO World Heritage List so it’s definitely worth a visit.
1 Cluny Road
Punggol Park
This park has everything you need for a fun, family day out with your pup. It has an “Active Zone” and “Passive Zone”, depending on what you’re keen on. For a more relaxing day, head to the northern end and take a leisurely stroll along the shaded path.

Punggol Waterway Park
This part is divided into four different themes, so everyone is sure to enjoy something. For a nice stroll with your dog, head to the Green Gallery to admire some flora and fauna along the way or the Heritage Zone to take a glimpse into the past.

Bukit Brown Cemetery
One of the largest authentic Chinese cemeteries outside of China, this is a wild green space with beautiful scenery. It’s very peaceful during the week and is often deserted, aside from the occasional dog walker. Please note that due to road constructions, visitors have to use the new access roads into the cemetery that you can refer to on the website.

Coney Island
Gaining much popularity in the recent years, Coney Island is an island just off the coast of Singapore, accessible by two bridges on both ends. Still steeped in nature, it’s a perfect spot to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The western entrance is closest to a car park, and the island closes at 7pm, so make sure you’re out of there by then!
Off Punggol Promenade Nature Walk
The Rail Corridor
Also known as “The Green Corridor”, this 24-kilometre stretch passes through almost the entire length of Singapore. Take a walk and explore the rich variety of flora and fauna. Note: A four-kilometre section between the Hillview area and the conserved Bukit Timah Railway Station is currently closed for enhancement works and is set to reopen in 2021.
Marina Barrage
With its Marina Bay Sands backdrop, what’s not to love about Marina Barrage? Spend a day kite-flying or enjoying a picnic with your dog by your side. If you’d like to engage your pup in more physical activity, you could take a run around the area. Just make sure to keep them on the leash at all times to ensure the safety and enjoyment of others.

The Southern Ridges
The Ridges comprise 10 kilometres of open space that connects Mount Faber Park, Telok Blangah Hill Park, HortPark, Kent Ridge Park and Labrador Nature Reserve. Don’t forget to stop by the Henderson Waves, Singapore’s highest pedestrian bridge and snap some photos along the way.
