What better way to spoil our best friends than with this easy Homemade Dog Biscuit recipe? These woofalicious dog biscuits require very few ingredients and are super easy to make.
They DO contain parsley which is a natural breath freshener and what self-respecting pup doesn’t want fresher breath?!
Our dogs are part of the family and we love to spoil them. Just like humans, our pups love fresh homemade treats and cookies!
There is just something that makes them taste so much better. Perhaps it is the bit of love thrown in?
At any rate, pups quickly learn to recognize the smell of baking dog treats and will wait anxiously for them to come out of the oven and cool so they can enjoy them.
These homemade dog biscuits require very few ingredients and are super easy to make. What’s notable in this recipe is there are two things we have left out.
This recipe is specifically without pumpkin and without peanut butter, which is something we have had requests for after sharing our other popular dog treat recipes that have them in. (See below for links.)
One thing these homemade dog biscuits DO contain is parsley. Most of us are familiar with parsley as a garnishment on our plates and sometimes used for seasoning our savory recipes.
For those that don’t know, parsley is a spice that has a slightly bitter flavor. It may not sound appetizing, but it actually balances the other flavors in the dish and adds a depth of flavor.
Benefits of Parsley in Dog Treats
Parsley (the curly leaf variety) is also well known for providing health benefits to our pups. Parsley is a great source of antioxidants, vitamins, and is useful in soothing upset tummies and helping digestion. In addition, it is often used in dog treats as a breath freshener.
*Note: Be careful and use curly leaf parsley instead of ‘Spring Parsley’. Spring Parsley is a member of the carrot family. It resembles parsley but is highly toxic to dogs.
These homemade dog biscuits also make a great gift for a dog lover! Pack them up in a cute dog-themed tin or simple bundle in a cellophane bag tied with ribbon.

Homemade Dog Biscuit Recipe
Ingredients:
1 large or 2 small chicken bouillon cubes
1/2 cup hot water
2 1/2 cups wheat flour
1 tsp salt
1 large egg
2 – 3 tablespoons chopped parsley (or 1-3 teaspoons dried parsley)
**NOTE: Fresh parsley is always better, in my opinion, but you can easily substitute dried parsley. When using dried herbs, the rule of thumb is to use one-third less than if using fresh.
***NOTE: When considering which one to use, consider the shelf life and how much/often you will use it.
How to make this homemade Dog Biscuits:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Dissolve bouillon cube in water – either in the microwave or a small saucepan on stove.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the water/bouillon mixture, salt, egg, flour and parsley.
Lightly flour your work surface and roll dough out to a 1Ž4 of an inch. Dip a cookie cutter into flour and cut out the biscuit shapes.
Bake dog biscuits on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper for 30 minutes.
Remove from oven and allow to cool.
Let your pup enjoy!
