Easy Snowman Bath Bomb Recipe
Bath bombs are a great beginner craft project, and this easy-to-follow bath bomb recipe is a fantastic one to start with! This bath bomb recipe can be customized with different fragrances and color combinations to create an endless amount of varieties, and today I’m showing you how to quickly turn your basic bath bombs into a fun and whimsical homemade gift idea – snowman bath bombs!
What You’ll Need to Make Snowman Bath Bombs:
- Baking Soda
- Citric Acid
- Epsom Salt
- Cornstarch
- Coconut Oil
- Fine Mist Spray Bottle of Water or Witch Hazel
- Fragrance Oil (in any fragrance of your choice. We used a combination of mango and pina colada!) or Essential Oils(optional)
- Bath Bomb Molds or Plastic Ornaments
- For Decoration: Activated Charcoal Powder, Orange Mica, and 99% Isopropyl Alcohol(optional)
In a large bowl, mix together the baking soda, salt, citric acid, and cornstarch and stir until thoroughly combined.
Melt the coconut oil if necessary and stir in the fragrance or essential oils of your choice. My seven-year-old thought it would be hysterical if we made snowmen that smelled unexpectedly summery and tropical, so we used a mix of mango and pina colada oils for our snowman bath bombs, and they smell AMAZING!
Slowly and carefully combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients. Be careful not to add too much liquid at once or the citric acid reaction will start to bubble and fizz! Squeeze the bath bombmixture in your hand to test if it will stick together. If not, spray the mixture with 1-2 spritzes of water or witch hazel, mix well, and test again. Repeat until you reach the desired consistency.You want the mixture to hold together when compressed and compacted, but DO NOT GET THE MIXTURE TOO WET!
Fill half of the mold with the bath bomb mixture, pressing down to ensure that it is completely filled.
Fill the other half of the mold, and press both filled halvestightly together. Allow to dryfor at least 24 hours before unmolding. I recommend drying for an additional 24 hours after unmolding before handling, decorating, and gift packaging (if time allows).
The plain white bath bombs reminded me of a bowl full of snowballs just sitting there like that, so I grabbed some activated charcoal, orange mica, and isopropyl alcohol and turned a few of them into snowmen!
To make the snowman faces, mix a small amount of charcoal powder with rubbing alcohol at a 2:1 ratio. Use a paintbrush to carefully add black “coal” dots to the face. Repeat the process with the orange mica to create the snowman’s carrot nose. Easy peasy and super cute!
