Looking for the BEST Hanky Panky recipe? While there are hundreds of ways to make Hanky Panky, this recipe keeps it simple. Your family will love it!

What is Hanky Panky Dip?

If you’ve never heard of Hanky Panky (sometimes called “Hanky Panks”), it’s probably because you don’t live in Cincinnati, Ohio or know someone from the area. It’s hugely popular in Cincinnati and it’s at just about every Super Bowl party, work party, and family get-together. It seems like everyone in Cincinnati has their favorite Hanky Panky recipe.

I love this particular Hanky Panky recipe because 1) it’s simple, and 2) it’s from my Sista{we really aren’t sisters we just call each other that because we are beyond the whole best friend status}. Kel, her husband, and son are stationed at Ft. Campbell, KY. Her husband has served in the army going on 18 years.

Thank You for your service, D! 😉

We went to visit for Thanksgiving and the base was VERY eerie feeling, simply because it was empty. I actually prefer to visit now on holidays because it’s simply crazy when all the military and their families are on base.

So as we were prepping our BIG enormous Thanksgiving dinner and the guys were bitchin’ that they were hungry {what else is new?!?}. So Kel threw this Hanky Panky recipe together in just a few minutes and it was munched on all day.

Hanky Panky Ingredients

While there are a bunch of Hanky Panky recipes floating around out there, they all include some variation on these ingredients:

  • Sausage and/or ground beef
  • Processed cheese — 99% of the time, it’s going to be Velveeta
  • Bread to serve it on —almost always rye. Okay, some people serve it on tortilla chips or Fritos, but I think they’re doing it wrong. 😉

People add all sorts of spices, seasonings, and sauces to it. My favorite version just includes a can of Rotel… why complicate things?

Hanky Panky Recipe – Step by Step

Step #1:Brown sausage in skillet and then drain off the excess fat.

Step #2: Halve and quarter the Velveeta, then dice. This will help it melt better in thecrock pot.

Step #3: Place Velveeta, cooked sausage and Rotel in a crock pot.

Step #4: Set crock pot on low and let it cook for about an hour.

Step #5: Place rye bread slices on a baking sheet and bake for 5-10 minutes until crisp. Place a tablespoon of Sausage Hanky on top of the rye bread. Enjoy!

Tips for Serving This Hanky Panky Recipe

  • I love that this Hanky Panky recipe can be left on low all day and guests can serve themselves as they please and it stays hot!
  • This is the perfect party appetizer, but it’s also fun to serve at home sometimes. My husband occasionally asks for it for no reason other than “it just sounds good right now.”
  • I am admittedly a “Hanky Panky purist” when it comes to what to serve it on (rye bread!), but really, it makes a great dip too.
